Roger A. Freeman, M.D.

Medical Qualifications:

Board-certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Roger A. Freeman, M.D., has maintained a private practice in San Diego since 1981. He often works in Mammoth, California, where he handles trauma cases and performs elective surgery.

Prior to forming his private practice, Dr. Freeman served in the United States Navy where he was assistant chief of orthopedics at Naval Regional Medical Center in Long Beach, California. He went on to serve as chief of joint reconstructive service at Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, where he also completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency. Dr. Freeman also held a total joint reconstruction fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky, where he also earned his undergraduate degree.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery of which he became board certified in 1982, the American Medical Association, the Western Orthopaedic Association, the San Diego County Medical Society, the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Galen Club Society of Physicians of which he was president.

Athletic Accomplishments:

He is an accomplished triathlete, often placing in the top three of his age group for Olympic distance events. He has completed 9 Ironmans including Ironman Hawaii for which he qualified in 1997, Brazil, in which he placed 5th for his age group, Germany, France, Canada, California (twice), Switzerland and New Zealand.

He most recently competed against the nation's top age group tiathletes in the National Age Group Championship (2003), where he qualified to represent the United States at the World Championships in 2004.
